The Policy & Public Affairs Department's Civil Rights Policy staff advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equality in employment, education, housing, family law, and every aspect of life touched upon by local, state, and federal laws and policies. The Civil Rights Policy staff plays an active leadership role in the state legislative arena, and participates in select initiatives at the local and federal levels as well. Whether advocating for the youth issues, hate crime laws, civil unions, the freedom to marry, domestic partnership, or fighting violence or anti-gay efforts such as the Knight Initiative, the civil rights staff pursues an agenda of equality, respect, and dignity for all.
