The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's West Hollywood LIFE (WeHo LIFE) Program was established in 1996 to affect the social norms surrounding HIV risk-reduction in the City of West Hollywood. The program is targeted at people living, working or doing business in the City of West Hollywood and focuses primarily on gay and bisexual men. The program uses a variety of risk-reduction strategies including the "Demand Safer Sex Now" (DSSN), an innovative HIV prevention membership club, as well as social marketing campaigns and condom kit distribution. Since its inception, more than 700 people and 35 businesses have joined DSSN and more than 250,000 condom packages have been distributed. The DSSN Club is open to residents, business owners, and those employed in the City of West Hollywood. Businesses exhibit their support of community members and DSSN objectives by providing discount opportunities to DSSN cardholders. Cardholders enjoy discount privileges from those businesses honoring the DSSN Card and in return support those businesses with their patronage. If you would like to become a DSSN member or sign up your business, please call for more information. West Hollywood LIFE is funded in part by the City of Los Angeles, Community Development Department; County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services; the City of West Hollywood; and DIFFA (Design Industry's Foundation Fighting AIDS).
