Established in 1995, RELATE offers HIV prevention workshops and rap groups designed to enhance self-esteem and encourage safer-sex practices among young men who have sex with men (MSM). The program assists gay, bisexual, and questioning youth between the ages of 15 and 24 by offering three different workshops that focus on self-esteem and HIV education at the Jeff Griffith Youth Center, other Gay & Lesbian Center locations, and throughout the community. The program includes the department's Youth Talk Line, a hotline that is staffed by volunteers trained to address issues such as coming out, sexual identity, suicide, relationships, safer sex, intimacy, parents, and more. There is also an international Pen Pal program that seeks to foster a community of LGBTQ youth worldwide. RELATE programs are based at the Jeff Griffith Youth Center.
